About Denise

I'd love to get your rising kindergartner or 1st grader ready to head back to school with fun, stimulating reading readiness activities and skill work. I am a 40-year primary teacher from CT, taught here in Mt. Pleasant as a reading teacher for 4 years and recently retired. I have taught preschool through first grade. I have also supervised student teachers. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and a Master's Degree in Reading. I love helping young children on their road to reading. I'm also a mom of three adult children and loved planning activities for my own kids as they grew and thrived. I'm available for part time tutoring and/or homework help. I also use a lot of resources and it's tricky transporting all the materials so I prefer tutoring in my home. I am a non-smoker and am covid vaccinated. I'm most interested in working with kindergartners and 1st graders who need some help with pre-reading, reading readiness and independent reading skills.
