Caution-do NOT hire. I contacted Cynthia (or Cindy as she calls herself) via text after she responded to my message on Care.com regarding hiring a caregiver while my father with Parkinson’s and dementia was staying with me over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. She came to my house and we met in person prior to his arrival date where we discussed his health and confirmed her schedule. We had a nice interaction during which she met my 6 month old baby, shared that she has a new grandchild herself and babysits once a week for a young baby nearby. On the day she was to arrive at 1 PM, I wrote to her about 20 minutes after the hour to check in and make sure she was on her way-giving her the benefit of the doubt that something must’ve come up to make her late for her shift. Not only did she not phone text or email me, she completely ghosted me. I sincerely hope she is safe and well, and if she is-I would absolutely caution anyone looking for a reliable and respectful caregiver for their loved one to NOT engage with her. It was already a stressful and incredibly busy weekend that turned into me caring for my six month old and a father who needs 24 hour care around the clock.
