About Colin

I'm a former academic and musician that moved into childcare after seeing the need for providers in the industry, especially after the pandemic. My master's degree is in entomology (the study of insects), but I have a solid understanding of all the STEM topics taught to children. I've also played music my whole life and would happily share my knowledge on music theory and how to play select instruments. My experience in childcare and tutoring has mainly been through being an assistant teacher at a large Michigan-based daycare company and by giving kid-friendly bug lectures at the Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids. For in-home nannying experience, I volunteer with MomsBloom, a non-profit that matches caregivers with postpartum parents. I believe in creating nurturing environments that focus on education and engagement rather than obedience, and that children are perfectly capable learning obedience on their own by observing adults be respectful to them and each other.
