I have been babysitting since I was 12 for children of all ages. I worked at a child care center 30 hours a week with 2-year-olds for two years during college. In Kenya, I volunteered in orphanages with HIV+ children. In the Dominican Republic, I helped build a school for young children that we watched and played with when we were not working. For two months in Argentina, I taught English to kindergartners. Over the 2008 and 2009 summers, I worked as a summer camp counselor and tutored students in math, reading, and writing in my spare time. I also volunteered at a transitional housing facility for women affected by domestic violence tutoring five to 10-year-olds in college. Every Wednesday, I also taught Spanish to 4-year-olds at a church preschool. Over the summer of 2011, I taught math and reading to low-income seventh and eighth graders through an AmeriCorps program, Summer Advantage USA. I spent the last year working with at-risk youth (ages 9-14) in Little Rock, Arkansas and just moved to DC to work for a charter school with 3 and 4-year-olds. I love children and cannot wait to meet yours!
