I have worked with children for over 20 years and with special needs populations for over 10 years. I became interested in the profession as a volunteer at a summer camp for people of varied ages with varied special needs in CO where I worked as a volunteer and then counselor for 3 years. I graduated with a bachelors degree in Special Education. In 2011, I finished two years of service in the Peace Corps in Peru. I worked with students, parents, and teachers of the local special education school on various activities and campaigns, advocating for the importance of inclusive settings. I have been teaching in New York for the past 12 years in grades K-6, as a Special Education teacher, General Education teacher, and as a bilingual teacher. I currently teach 5th and 6th grades within a dual language program in Hampton Bays, NY! My husband and I are looking forward to moving to Vero Beach to be close to my father, hence the current job search!
