About Carolyn

I am the oldest in my family and have cared for my younger siblings while growing up. My brother has autism who is nonverbal and heavily dependent on others to help him with daily tasks. My parents relied on me to work on skills outside of therapy, which included teaching with toys to work on sensory skills, and to care for him during summer time or when running errands. I also interacted and played with him to make sure he was not bored/lonely and kept him engaged. During high school, I cared for children (ages ranging from newborn - 6 years) in the Nursery department for the First Presbyterian Church in Nashville and each room had at least 4-10 kids. We had indoor/outdoor play time, activities, snacks, and reading time. After graduating from undergrad I moved to Atlanta and since then I have occasionally cared for friends' children for short periods. I am a medical assistant at an Ophthalmic clinic during the day, and am looking for occasional jobs in the evenings.
