Hello my name is Brett. I am a Certified Nurse Assistant in Suffolk county and I have experience with mental illness and developmental disabilities. I recently moved back from Florida where I have been working as a Patient Care Tech for the last year. I have worked with children and adults with disabilities ranging from autism to Down syndrome to severe behavioral problems. I have gained patience and knowledge about the autism spectrum throughout my years working with special individuals and I wish to keep learning and expanding my area of expertise. I have also a lot of knowledge on handling seniors with dementia and impaired memory as I used to work in long term care. I would say 50% of my professional experience has been with those with developmental disabilities ranging in age from preschool to adults in there 40s. The other 50% of my professional experience was spent working with memory impaired seniors and acute hospital patients.
