About Brandi

Hello! My name is Brandi. I am a primary special education teacher. If you're a parent to a kindergartner, first- or second-grader, the jump is coming. It's a crucial change in academic expectations that happens in third grade. This is when students move from learning to read, to reading to learn. They are no longer taught letter sounds and decoding at this stage, but are expected to read proficiently enough to use their skills to independently access content and answer higher-level questions about the reading. In math, students are expected to fluently add and subtract within 1, 000 and now be ready to build upon that knowledge with multiplication and division. That's the jump. As a CPS teacher, I work with grades K-3, but if your son or daughter is older than that and still struggling, it's not too late! This is a labor of love.
