About Barbara

My experience working with seniors is helping my mother with her care. In the final 12 years of her life, we brought Mom to live in an independent senior community near us so I could help care for her as her needs grew. Mom was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2007, moved near us in 2009, and she passed away in September 2021. I provided companionship and transportation for medical, shopping, med mgt., and ran errands for her. I employed negotiation and arbitration skills in advocating for mom with health care providers and at her senior living facilities and I managed her finances. Getting to know the other residents where she lived, I gained appreciation for all that our precious elders bring to us with their life experiences and learned many have no one to provide companionship, assist and advocate for them. I saw how difficult it can be when they need assistance, but there is no one there to help. I will give the same care and attention to those I serve now as I gave to my mother.
