My husband and I interviewed several nannies we found on care.com. Arianna was responsive, showed up for the interview, and really seemed to hit it off with our toddler. We explained we needed someone to help out 3-4 days a week for 4-5 hours at a time. She confirmed this arrangement would work great. During this interview, we also confirmed her availability for our upcoming anniversary dinner. I I am terminally ill, so this coming anniversary was very special to me. We set her first dates for the following monday, friday, and our anniversary dinner the next thursday. Monday was great. Arianna showed up to watch our son for a few hours. He loved her. We talked about seeing her friday. And that was the last time we saw her. Thursday she told us her lab partner was sick so she had to cover for her on friday. I said Ill check in with you after the weekend to see about Monday, and she agreed that sounded good. Monday she simply texted and said she picked up a work study and she wouldn't be able to come back anymore and "sorry for the inconvenience." I asked does this mean you wont be able to make thursday [our anniversary dinner] ? No response. Had she told us she just wanted to watch our son [once ] until something better came along, we never would have wasted our time interviewing her or hundreds of dollars on an expensive dinner we had already paid for once we thought we had a sitter for the event. Her flippant and cavalier attitude toward commitment is gross. Don't hire her if you are relying on her to show up. Something better might come along.
