I am currently in nursing school and have cared for a few different seniors in the hospitals during my clinical experiences. I helped care for my now deceased grandfather by taking him the VA hospital in Hampton and helping around the house and just spending time together. I also help with my grandmother who was recently diagnosed with dementia after breaking her hip a couple years ago. She is now immobile and has had a couple strokes. It can be challenging helping a senior with dementia and that's why I believe it is important for the caregiver to really understand the disease and implications that go along with it.
