I am a graduate student (staring this fall) who has 3 years experience working as a paraprofessional at a school for students with varying disabilities. I have experience communicating through ASL (I am hearing), and using and navigating multiple AAC device programs including LAMP, Proloquo2Go, and Tobii. I have training in Safety Care and de-escalation techniques. I previously held a license as a speech languge pathology assistant (did not renew license). I am mindful of disability rights and treating all people with dignity and respect. I am anti-ABA as I believe, from actually autistic voices, that such practices perpetuate trauma. I have experience with body jackets, gait belts, g tube feeding via pump and manually as well as water flushes, standers, and other equipment. I enjoy reading, playing games, and going for walks with those I care for. In my job as a paraprofessional, I had a knack for creating engaging and creative lessons to get students excited and communicating.
