About Angelica

I have a background in teaching Elementary and Preschool/Daycare (Infants through toddlers). I have a focus for children's social emotional needs. I believe children need to experience big emotions in order to learn how to manage them. I allow for a safe space to experience emotions through modelling how to stay safe while letting the emotions out, taking a break, checking in for needs, deep breathing, and revisiting the experience through conversation once feeling calm. I also encourage children to explore and develop learning experiences from that exploration. I believe in the arts (painting, theater, dancing...) as way to explore children's creativity. I observe for particular activities the children already enjoy to do and go from there. I introduce new activities to children through play and/or read alouds. Something new I wish to try is introducing new activities to children through demonstrations/modelling. My approach is Reggio Emilia based.
