The key to being a great care provider is going with the flow. The longer you are with your patient the more you grow to love them as if they were your own family. Hear them, listen to them, engage with them in every aspect. I have worked with patients with dementia, alzheimer's, wheelchair bound, non-verbal, difficulty or vision & hearing, etc. They all have their own way of communicating. It is just a matter of learning what that is so they can feel comfortable around you whether they remember you everyday or not!
