I am helping my dad find someone who can stay with mom for daytime and occasional overnight care. She has metastatic breast cancer and has declined recently. She stays in bed most of the day due to swelling in her feet, legs and abdomen. She can walk short distances with a cane. She sleeps through the night 7:00pm-6:00 a.m. She gets up on her own to go to the bathroom and walk to the table to eat 3 meals a day. She has had uncontrolled diarrhea a few times in the past few weeks and may need help with that. When my dad goes out during the day or overnight, she will need someone to make meals, clean up from meals, attend to her requests when she needs something, and sometimes help with bathroom issues or bathing. My mom is a retired doctor who is smart and kind. Her mind is still sharp, even while her body is giving out.
