About who needs care: In search of a companion for my mother who has Alzheimers to come a couple times a month and give my dad a break for a few hours. She is fully verbal, able to feed and dress herself etc, but gets frustrated easily, forgets people, places and things and wanders. Ideally someone who is experienced with Alzheimer/ Dementia patients who would know how to handle her when she gets frustrated and redirect her in a calm and kind manner. She loves art, looking at books and being outside. Duties would include but are not limited to making lunch, reminding her to take vitamins, providing hydration and snack options, watching her so she doesn't wander off the property, and most importantly just interacting and being with her. Must be comfortable with interacting with dogs as they have a super friendly, but big German Shepherd, and she would need to be taken out a few times while you were there. We would be open to providing more hours if things go well and we feel like it is needed. About the care needs: We would love someone who is a retired/or active Dementia Specialist, nurse or who has extensive experience with these type of patients. Someone who is active, and likes arts and crafts is a plus. Ideally you would be comfortable being in a Christian home as we have worship music playing often and she likes to talk about God and the Bible. Services needed include: companionship.
