Helping people is a passion of mine, especially adults and children with special needs. I find it very rewarding and at times a challenge but still so enjoyable. I'm currently working with a teenager with cerebral palsy. He is non-verbal, non-ambulatory and has impaired vision. He uses a switch, g- tube and a lift system along with a wheel chair. I have also worked with a couple who were both wheelchair bound with the physical body affected but not the mental health. I helped with transfers, bathing, feeding, preparing meals, errands and trips to the gym for the weekly exercise program. I have volunteered at Dell Children's Hospital in outpatient physical therapy, where I assisted the physical therapists with their patients. Another volunteer assignment I have loved in working with the Miracle League at Town in Country. It is a special equipped field for children with a wide range of disabilities to have the opportunity to play baseball.
