A Better Alternative To New Year’s Resolutions for 2019

A Better Alternative To New Year’s Resolutions for 2019

After the excesses of the holidays, we are quick to turn to the fresh start of the New Year with all its hopes and resolutions. But how long will they last?
This year, instead of compiling a list of New Year’s resolutions that are all but sure to fall by the wayside, choose one motto that will guide you through the New Year. This motto will help you make the best decisions for you in the New Year and beyond.
One motto you can adopt in 2019 is Live with Less. This motto can be applied to so many areas that will help you live a more meaningful life. Try living with less objects, clothes, social media, screen time or anything else you feel hinders your appreciation of the world around you.
Here are a few other mottos that you could live by in 2019:

I will make time for the things that are important to me

Think about what in life means the most to you. Whether it is spending time with your partner, children or friends, or participating in a particular hobby, dedicate more time to it. Spending time with the people or doing the things that are most important to you will offer you a sense of satisfaction that is hard to match. No matter what you attach great importance to, ‘making time’ is a worthy contender for your 2019 motto.

I will take care of my health

While adopting a healthier lifestyle is a great goal for the New Year, most of us give up on our healthy resolutions – such as losing a few pounds or going to the gym more regularly – within a few weeks.
To be more successful, make health an umbrella term that will incorporate all aspects of your lifestyle. Think about health when you are doing the grocery shopping, deciding at what time to go to sleep, or if you are thinking about going to the gym in the morning.
You may not be able to do this every day, and that’s okay, but by consistently remembering your motto, ‘I will take care of my health’, living a healthy lifestyle will gradually become part of your everyday life.

I will be calm

Our stress levels are directly related to our health. When we are stressed, our immune system is disrupted and we become more susceptible to disease. While it may sound difficult, maintaining a positive attitude can reduce stress and help us be more relaxed. And it might be easier than you think.
Sometimes, simply humming a happy song to yourself or smiling can be enough to activate your happy hormones. A healthy diet and plenty of sleep and exercise are other ways to help you reduce stress.
So, for the New Year, commit to working on your composure to sail through 2019 happy and relaxed.

Say yes to help

Accepting help is not always and easy thing to do. Whether it is pride or a fear of putting others out, saying yes to help is something many of us find difficult. But it need not be so. If getting a little extra help will take pressure off you and afford you time for the things that mean most to you, then say yes to help.
For example, hiring a day-to-day helper – be it a housekeeper, babysitter or pet sitter – can be an investment that you will instantly feel the benefits of. They will relieve you of many of the stresses of everyday life, which will allow you to spend more time focusing on the things you need to stick to your motto for 2019 and have a successful year.
Will you choose a New Year’s Motto instead of a resolution this year? Which one did you choose? No matter what your goals are for the new year, we wish you a happy and healthy New Year!Â
