Hello, I'm Lisa. I am a 41-year-old mother of two boys. My oldest son is 12 and my youngest just turned 1 year. :) My 12-year-old has ADHD and has struggled greatly to be successful in school and in every day life. I have a certificate in Human Development/Special Education Assisting from The college of Alameda. I also have over 48 Early childhood Development units. I was a preschool teacher for 8 years, from 2003-2011. I have always been drawn to children with special needs. I studied sign language in high school and a bit in college and I can sign basic signs. I also volunteered at Children's Hospital Oakland. Visiting and comforting sick babies and kids and playing with them in the playroom. I loved it! Right out of high school, I was a live-in Nanny for a 4-year-old, deaf girl. I also worked a summer at CEID. (Center for the Education of the Infant Deaf) in Berkeley. In college, I did internships in special day classes and worked with autistic preschoolers. My preference would be to have my 1-year-old son accompany me on the job, if appropriate. I realize that may not be ideal for many families, so it is negotiable. I would be willing to take less pay, if I ended up bringing him along. I am a very honest, hard working, responsible person. I am also very patient, kind and compassionate. Thank you for your time and good luck to you. :) Sincerely, Lisa
