As a Para-Professional for Aldine Independent School District for 25 years I was privileged to work with 7th, 8th, and 9th grade special needs students. My main duties were to assist my students in core subjects, getting to class on time, providing school supplies, modify classroom assignments and when needed re-teaching assignments. Other duties included documenting students' progress, maintaining detailed records of their academic, behavioral and social development and regularly communicated with parents, teachers and diagnostician to discuss individualized strategies and modifications. Over the years I have worked with students with the following disabilities : Emotionally Disturbed, Post Traumatic Stress, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism, Dyslexia, Cerebral Palsy, and Muscular Dystrophy.
