I am a mother of a speical needs 9 yr old boy he is autistic among many other diagnosis he is currently my only child. He is verbal and able-bodied but does have hypotonina although by looking at him you would never know. In the past in elementary through high school I have helped care for those with special needs (with assistance because I was not certified since I was still in school myself) the special needs individuals I have cared for have ranged in age from about 5 to early 20's. I have also cared for a social needs adult a few times too within the last few years! I am not able to do lifts/transfers unfortunately that is not something I'm comfortable with just yet on my own but I am willing to learn! Those with special needs have a huge place in my heart! Before getting pregnant/having my son I was going to become a special education teacher but never finished my degree.
