My experience being a caregiver to those with special needs goes beyond my studies as an OT assistant and a caregiver. For a short time, I was the one being cared for after a horrible car accident. This experience is what lead me to go to school to be an occupational therapy assistant, which in turn, was what lead me to the field of "special needs" and developmental disabilities. It is my passion and I have dedicated over 15 years to this field of work. I have done all levels of in-home care as well as have an individual who lives in my home that I have helped take care of for almost 10 years. I am med certified through the state of Nebraska, I also have my First Aid and CPR certifications. I am familiar with varying levels of communication and physical capabilities. My experience also ranges from all aspects of residential care to being a job coach in the community.
