I have been around autistic kids for a number of years. Recently, since January 2016, I have been a student aide/tutor for a high functioning autistic teen. My active listening skills have been honed so much more being his schoolday companion. His needs had me teaching him 1-on-1 while in class since I had to break down concepts/formulas in terms and ideas that he could relate to. This paid off in that he started focusing on achieving better grades; thus, garnering awards and honors to the delight of his parents. My natural instincts of caring, protecting, and of wanting to help him advance like he was my own had me being his 'mother'-friend-teacher-'psychologist'-confidant,... attuned to his sensitivities and needs, one he can trust to be there for him. Marie has been our FT nanny (& 2nd mom) to my daughter (D) for the last 5 years, since my D was 3 mos old. She is gifted with children. I could forget about my D while at work b/c I trusted Marie without question. She sent pics of their day so I knew what they were doing and eating. She cooked & did all housekeeping duties pertaining to my D. My D loves Marie & tells me she misses her all the time. She started kindergarten but I will still use her PT. Instead of screen time, Marie spent countless hours reading books, teaching her the letters and sounds of the alphabet and by age 4, she was reading. She has a mature vocabulary and now loves to learn b/c Marie created games, crafts and activities to do during the day. My D is a very picky eater but she will eat almost everything Marie makes her as she is an excellent cook. But most importantly, she loved and raised my D like her own. I'm so grateful to have found Marie. I cannot recommend her enough.
