I currently work as a Recreation Therapist in the school system, providing group therapy sessions for special education classes. I see varying disabilities each day, but I am most knowledgeable in working with people with autism, down syndrome, and CP. I completed an internship at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, working in Outpatient Recreation Therapy serving people with varying physical disabilities. I would do aquatic therapy, community integration, and functional living skills. Lastly, I worked for Ascendigo, an extreme sports camp for people with autism in Carbondale, CO. The whole summer I was paired 1 on 1 with an autistic person, serving as their sport coach and care provider. We completed sports like river rafting, wake surfing, rock climbing, and horseback riding. I have a lot of experience, but I am still learning everyday.
