I have some experience with elementary aged students that are in the pyramid program. I have worked at the Arc of Frederick for 2 years with young adults with developmental disabilities. Most of the people I have assisted were high functioning. One person I mainly had to drive him to work or college and sometimes I assisted him at our center with preparing a meal. Another person I supported at work. He was non verbal but very expressive. The experiences that I have had with these people have helped me learn to be patient and create a welcoming environment for others that may have disabilities.
