Hi! I'm a a 26-year-old living in Mashpee. I have worked with children since I was pretty much a child myself! I started off just occasionally babysitting and when I was in high school, I began working with children/young adults with severe special needs--that has become my passion in life now. For now I am seeking a position as a caregiver for a child/children with special needs. I have worked in many different settings, from severe special ed. classrooms, to preschools, day cares, K-5 classrooms, as a nanny/babysitter. I was a personal care provider for a young adult with severe special needs for 8 years as well, so I have experience working with a great range of different types of children/families, and I am pretty much comfortable with anything that comes my way! I love caring for people--children especially, and helping them to grow and learn. When I was a nanny, the youngest child was not speaking so I was able to take different techniques from being a teacher into their home and implement them to teach him sign language and work on his speech, and still to this day he remembers all of the sign language he learned when he was only 18 months and it's amazing to think that's because of the work I did with him and that he started speaking partially because of my help! Currently, I am working full-time at a residential school for children/young adults with severe special needs. I mainly work with young adults (16-19) with a range of special needs, as well as severe behavioral challenges. I am used to working with individualized behavior plans, I. E. P. s, as well as implementing care for every individual as it is seen fit. I am trained in A. B. A. techniques, as well as data collection, behavior management, and first aid/C. P. R. I am also trained and certified in C. P. I. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. On a daily basis, I am used to using schedules of reinforcement, helping students with ADLs, helping to recognize antecedents and intervene with escalating students, using activity schedules, etc. I also know a fair amount of common words in sign language. To me, working with all children is the most rewarding job in the world, teaching them, helping them to grow and learn in the world through their own experiences is amazing, and I love watching them learn. So if you think I sound like a match for what you're looking for, please feel free to contact me anytime! And I look forward to all the new experiences I hope to get!
