I have always had a great love for those with special needs. I love learning the unique ways to communicate with them- every special needs person seems to have their own language. Though I do not know sign language, I once was partially responsible for the care of a young girl with a severe hearing impairment. We worked out a great communication system! As a future educator, I have also worked with children of all levels of intellect. From those referred to as gifted who needed more of a challenge so they would not be bored, to those who struggle more with intellectual challenges. In those cases, I was able to break down tasks into more manageable pieces, which allowed the students to succeed at their tasks instead of being with them. I am eager and willing to learn any new skills which may be of benefit to your specific situation! I love helping others, and learning new ways to help is often a part of that process.
