I am a retired special education teacher who made a career change to professional caregiver! I have experience with dementia and Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ADHD/Autism, developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, mobility and bathing (Hoyer, gait belt, wheelchair), exercise (passive ROM, chair yoga), hospice care, and I have studied The Montessori Method and philosophy of both education and senior care. I ve a bachelor's degree in natural science and mathematics, a master's degree in special education, and 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training. I enjoy reading, writing, hiking, camping, yarn and paper crafts and cooking and baking. I can assist with organization - especially if you are trying to downsize. I own a cat and I am comfortable with pets and clients that smoke. I have 4 years professional caregiver/DSP experience, and over 30 years as an educator and homemaker. I started helping my grandparents at age 7 and by age 10 I was volunteering as an activity aide at a nursing fac.
