Working with children from all walks of life throughout my entire life, with my mother at her day care, at other various day cares, and independently nannying, I have had the opportunity to work with several special needs children. I must say, that many of my most rewarding childcare experiences have been with those children who need that extra attention and care. I have developed relationships with special needs children by watching, teaching and observing their progress and growth in a way that is very different from average children. The smallest of steps are celebrated in a way that, with average children's cases, might often be overlooked. I also love gaining the trust of children who may lack confidence in strangers, and making them feel at ease when they're nervous or on edge.
