I was a CNA for 20 years and a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician for 14 years, but let these certifications lapse because I did not have time to renew them while working as an emergency 911 dispatcher, and supervisor for 12 years. I have worked as a home health care provider, in the emergency room, and in the admissions department of hospitals preparing patients for rooms upon admission. I would happily meet with you and your love one about how I might help you care for your loved one with dignity, respect, while helping them retain independence in the safest manner possible. I provide light housekeeping for my patient (but for the family this would be extra), meal preparation (I love to cook), laundry for the patient (for the family would be extra), medication monitoring, bathing, and errands for the client. I will do doctor visits and as such with, but I would have to insist this be in client's vehicle because of insurance purposes. I have excellent references and would love to be the extra set of hands you need to make your life run smoother and my personal belief is that everyone should be treated as I would want to be treated or any of my family or friends. I do know the struggle of having a loved one seriously ill as my father died of multiple illnesses and had to be cared for by family members and my husband is currently a cancer fighter. I tell people that my only talent is that I love people. I have a three hour a day minimum and can work as much or as little as you would like, but I understand that sometimes families just need that little bit of help. I also am available for occasional overnights should the the need arise.
