I've had the wonderful opportunity to care for special needs children for a few years. It started when I was back in middle school and was a student aid to a boy with Down's Syndrome. We did everything together and I knew that I wanted to continue helping kids with special needs. For the past 3 years, I've been babysitting a family who has a son with DS and we have such an incredible connection. I've been able to practice some sign language with him so he can communicate since he is non-verbal. Seeing his smile is the best part of my day. I feel like people with special needs are so undervalued and I don't want that to happen any longer. They are absolutely amazing and hold a special place in my heart. I want to make them all feel loved.
