I first started my journey and passion for children with special needs fresh out of high school. Not quite sure what I was getting into I enrolled in the para educator program at the community college. That along with working in a child care center with many young children with diverse needs challenged and prepared me for the next step. I now work at a Therapeutic school in a functional life skills class where I work one-on-one with a diverse population of children. I often work with students with violent behaviors as well as medical needs. I often carry out academic instruction and small groups overseen by the teachers. It's high energy and I'm constantly learning but that's why I love it! I love learning everyday and getting to be a light in these students lives when not many people are willing to. I also have many years experience being a nanny before working with special needs children. Additionally I studied early childhood education to receive an associates in general studies.
