I have been working with individuals (both children and adults) with special needs for a year now and really enjoy doing so. I currently am employed as a Recreation Assistant at a school for children with ASD. During the sessions, we go on trips to local restaurants and malls in the community in order to help the students establish and build their social skills. These children are some of the brightest children I have ever met and spending time with them really makes my day. I am also a mentor at my college for college-aged students with intellectual disabilities, which I also love. I hope to become a pediatric occupational therapist for special needs children, because this population is one that demonstrate a rare gift to the world and deserve our respect and love.
