I am a licensed PCA in Minnesota and have worked as a PCA since 2016. I have also worked at True Friends Camp in Annandale, MN for three summer seasons and two school respite seasons. I have experience in working with a wide range of people with disabilities and diagnoses. Some responsibilities included behavior management, assisting with personal hygiene needs, providing creative opportunities so every camper could participate, planning daily activities and creating and maintaining a healthy environment for campers. I am a big advocate on independence of clients, and that no one is defined by limitations. I like to find adaptive activities that your child/client will enjoy.

August 20, 2013 It is with great pleasure that I write a letter of recommendation for Anne O. Anne O. worked at a camp as both a Lead Counselor and a Counselor during the summer of 2013. The camp operates five resident camps. We serve both children and adults with developmental disabilities. Typical sessions run from Sunday - Friday and during this time the counselors are responsible for the well being and the leisure activities of their cabin participants. Participants have the opportunity to engage in activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, canoeing, arts and crafts, music, recreation, over night tent camping and much more. Staff members work with campers of all ability levels and aged as young as five though senior citizens of various ages. Staff members assist with campers with personal cares on a daily basis and encounter campers who display challenging behaviors. Anne worked onsite mainly at the camp this summer. Anne's passion for camp and commitment to those she serves is truly admirable. She is respectful, kind, patient, and compassionate. Anne is also very intelligent and confident in her ability to lead others and set a positive example. Anne is forthright and not afraid to stand up for what she believes in or be an advocate for those who may not be able to speak for themselves. After being a Counselor for the beginning of the summer, we quickly learned that Anne had the skills required to be the Lead Counselor. As a Lead Counselor, Anne had the added responsibility to organize the cabin and coordinate the activities as well as maintaining open communication with everyone in the cabin. Cabins may have from 4-12 participants and 2-5 staff members depending on the ability levels of the participants. Managing a cabin group is no small job. At camp, it is not unusual for a plan activity to "fall though" and when this happened she had to adapt to the change and go with the flow by creating a new activity. Anne worked with staff members who were primarily college or high school age, including many international staff members. She had the chance to work with people from many different countries. She worked with both male and female staff members as well as people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. She also works very well with individuals with disabilities. Other staff members enjoyed working with her. Anne was an excellent staff member. She looked out for each of his campers as if they were a member of his own family. She became more assertive with communicating the needs of her campers as she became more comfortable in her position. She was trustworthy, responsible and through her actions and words demonstrated that she cared for the campers for whom she was responsible. I am sure that Anne will do well at any position or program for which she would apply. If I can be of any other help regarding Anne O., I can be reached at the phone number listed below. Respectfully, Jon S. Program Director
