I was a personal nanny for two years total for special needs children. I have worked with children and teens with bipolar disorder, ADHD, autism, Tourette's and depression. I am fluent in American Sign Language and volunteered with a deaf and hard of hearing elementary school all throughout high-school. My approach is always a loving and understanding one. I stand by the idea that the best way to handle outbursts or difficult situations is to open up channels of healthy and functional communication, whatever that may mean for the individual, and give time for cool downs. I do have experience with children who show aggression and I am skilled in nonphysical de-escalation. I am currently employed as a registered behavioral technician for children with autism. I cannot provide those specific services outside of my employment due to monthly supervision requirements by the board of behavior analysis, however, my employment does give me constant hands on experience with children with autism.
