I love working with Special needs individuals and have 3 years 8 months experience working as a direct care staff for 18 to 60-year-olds (6 months as a CNA and the rest of the time as a Case Manager/ Activity leader). In my time at MCFI, I learned effective methods to assist individuals with disabilities while helping them to achieve their highest level of independence. I have worked with a diverse population with varying levels of support needs. A few diagnosis I have worked with include, down's syndrome, Angelman's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Schizophrenia, Parkinson's, Muscular Dystrophy, and Autism. I know that no 2 people are the same and expect to learn something new from each person I care for. I have experience creating and implementing engaging activities (swimming, art, pet therapy, fitness, music, brain games, interpersonal skills, cooking, and individual living skills). I love teaching and believe that with enough time and effort learning can almost always be fun.
