I do not know what exactly drew me into this field of study as I am currently pursuing a degree in special education at university, but I can tell you my hand on hand experiences with the individuals I have met throughout the years have touched my heart in ways I will never forget. I have always been around or friends with those with special needs, but my first professional involvement was in a school and I was specifically in charge of taking care of a handful of students with special needs. While working with the kids we would practice things like emotional regulation, pleasantries, and mindful thinking with the occasional dance breaks. After working in the school, I got to babysit a few of the kids. I currently now take care of a special needs teenager part-time in the afternoons. As someone who has experienced and understood what it meant to treat those around me respectively. It has driven a passion in me to give everyone, the opportunity of respect.
