About who needs care: My mom is vision (macular degeneration) and hearing impaired, but can hear and see remarkably well, communicates well and is extremely functional. She has a tender leg that requires she take breaks, but she walks a lot and independent of a walker. Having said that, she has one and will occasionally use it. The goal here is to keep her independent for as long as we can. She obviously needs help running errands, could use a clothes and grocery shopping companion that is patient and can help her read labels. She likes to organize, so you'd probably be helping her organize items so she can find them easily later. She needs help with household chores - her vision just isn't there. I'd love to see her do her weekly cooking with you. If you can help her sort out her meds for the week and send a photo of the meds in the right daily bins to me to approve, that would be a huge help. She has a very spoiled beagle and her husband lives with her, but he's pretty private, so he'll probably stay out of the way (or just be watching TV). She loves to tell stories. She was an artist and worked with wood when she could see well. She was also a corporate accounting executive for years. She likes the bible, but she also likes the lottery - and she loves that overweight beagle. About the care needs: A patient, kind, good listener would be perfect. Someone that likes to ask questions. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
