About who needs care: I am looking for a live-in nanny to help take care of my 18-year-old autistic daughter. My daughter has autism, but is otherwise healthy. Our home has a separate apartment that the nanny can live in, with a kitchen and bathroom. My daughter does not need a lot of assistance. but she needs supervision. She will start ATS (adult transition services) in the Fall which is M-F from noon to 4 p.m. Other than school, she hardly leaves home because of her social anxiety. When she is at home, she mostly watches videos. Her personality is very sweet and funny, she is non-aggressive. Ideally, I would be able to travel occasionally while the nanny stays at the home so that my daughter is not alone. The job does not require a lot of work, I mainly need somebody to stay at the house and check on my daughter periodically. About the care needs: The ideal caregiver would be a responsible person, who is compassionate towards disabled persons. A special needs education background would be good, but is not required. The caregiver should be kind and have a sense of humor. Other than that, I can't think of any specialized skills or hobbies/interests. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
