About who needs care: Mom had a loss of oxygen to the brain in a surgery last Fall. She is recovering after acute rehab at home. Cognitively, she understands everything but her speech is at about 90% (she struggles with finding the words sometimes) but in working with a speech therapist, she's making progress. Physically, she can stand up/sit down, go to the bathroom, can walk on her own (slowly) and she has full use of her left arm and hand but her right hand and arm is weak and she's working on her finger mobility. She will need help around the house on occasion opening jars, buttoning her shirt. She will also need someone who can drive her to therapy appointments or to run errands with her. When not helping Mom, ideally this person could help with household needs like preparing meals (3 people in the house) and cleaning.
About the care needs: Skills: Driving, cooking, cleaning
Personality: upbeat, positive, helpful. Mom can be frustrated with her own progress so a thick skin is helpful too.
Since this will be to help Mom as she needs, there may be a lot of alone time for this person so should be comfortable quietly reading a book or entertaining themselves.
Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
