About who needs care: My father broke his hip in January. Tentative plan is to go home from rehab in 1-2 mos., if feasible. He's essentially independent, but high-risk for falls. Mostly, he needs a contact guard to help keep him steady. However, 24/7 supervision is currently required. If/when he goes home, he'll likely will need minimal help w/ bathing, dressing, toileting, etc. Spends them mostly sleeping & watching TV, but does have some regular social activities I'm sure he'd like to return to. Particularly, weekly brunch & practice w/ his barbershop quartet.
About the care needs: My father is very old-school in the home (i. e. women have "certain responsibilities." My mother died in 2021. Prior to his fall in January, he did everything on his own. Though, still a fall risk, he was stronger. Progress has been slow. He would do well w/ someone medically knowledgeable who can help educate him. Someone who can push him to do things on his own. I would not recommend a young female. He'd be appropriate, but lazy. Other than that, he loves to talk religion. Avoid politics.... yikes.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
