About who needs care: Both of my parents in their mid 80s live in their home independently. Father requires more attention due to mobility issues (still is able to get around, but slow and requires some assistance), aid with medication management, aid with personal care. Mother is much more capable, mindful and the caregiver but mobility is becoming more difficult and currently dealing with injured leg, which she should be taking it slower but won't. So need in-home care at least 3x/week for meal prep, light cleaning, personal care, light household chores, etc. I am expecting that this assistance will continue in order to prolong their time within their own home before having to advance to a more permanent solution. About the care needs: My mother is an amazing woman, a caregiver all of her life, loving, strong and independent.... so need someone that will respect her opinion and wishes while being firm with her in order to make her understand and accept the assistance. My father has worked long and hard all of his life... a very stubborn and opinionated man..... however, he is in much pain and will readily accept all of the assistance he can get; loves being waited on. But he can be frustratingly closed minded and "country".... so do not want someone who will feed into that behavior nor do not want someone who will challenge him on his opinions..... neutrality is key. Overall, my parents are amazing people who would do anything for those they care about. They both have fun and outgoing personalities and have great stories and wisdoms. So I would expect the same type of individual to care for them at this stage in their lives.... genuine, kind, friendly, gentle but firm. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
