About who needs care: Osteoarthritis (knees)/somewhat limits mobility outside of home, torn rotator cuff and some arthritis in arms & hands and loss of strength and stamina with aging that limits many housekeeping tasks, etc. I have no specific hobbies or interests; I spend just about all day on the computer with TV (news channel) on in the background. I am a night owl; my schedule is usually like rising between 10 a.m. and 2-3 p.m. and going to bed between 2 a.m. and 4-6 a.m. I have nurse visits 3x/w; and a visit from my church clergy 1x/wk. About the care needs: They should be pleasant, easy going, have a gentle sense of humor, and be patient but not condescending with the elderly. They should, once they know the everyday tasks that need to be done, just get to work rather than sitting and waiting to be given step by step instructions for routine jobs. Also, I have a dog, they need to be comfortable around him. BTW, he is used to being asked to "excuse me" rather than being told to "move", unless there's an emergency, in which situation a "please move" might be understandable. Specialized skills? Perhaps exhibiting organizing things, and have an eye for seeing the little things like noticing when there are streaks on the mirrors and dust on the bric-a-brac and taking care of them, little things like that that bring comfort to me even if everything else seems to be falling apart at the seams I can look around and not see any dog hair dust bunnies peeking out from under the furniture and I don't have to worry about the things I cannot manage to do anymore and can feel comfortable inviting people into my home. Not sure what you mean about specific hobbies/interests they should have. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and mobility assistance.
