About who needs care: Mom is turning 80. Lives in her own home. Had a mini stroke over the holidays - still recovering. Has AFIB - has had her heart shocked 3 times and may get Catheter ablation this summer. Currently she needs extra help with the heavier household chores like washing the floor or tub and rides to the doctor so she is not alone. We are starting care so if / when she needs more help we already have someone in place. She has a pet cat that is very friendly. She likes to do puzzles. She likes to go out to lunch and store. Her next door neighbor that was her best friend had to go live with her daughter due to breaking her hip and diabetes and she misses that companionship. My brother (her son) and wife and daughter live in Sterling Heights so not far but they both work full time so he only visits on Saturdays. About the care needs: A good fit would be patience and someone who doesn't mind doing things "her" way. The person should at least be a CNA for health care that may arise in the future. Currently we are only looking for every other week but this will increase in the future. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
