Looking for a Sunday morning caregiver for my dad who is 81 and has mild to moderate dementia due to cardiovascular disease. The start and time are a bit flexible. He needs help with making his breakfast and lunch, making coffee/iced tea, and putting out his morning medications. Light cleaning with kitchen wipe down and dishes and taking out the trash. He has poor mobility and wears pull-ups for urinary leakage. He needs help some of the time getting in and out of his wheelchair to get to his bathroom or computer table. He is a retired electrical construction superintendent and his company built and he likes to tell people how he's been in every room in that building. His other interests include Egyptology, classical music, and science/nature. He likes crosswords however his eyesight is such that he might want help with doing them. He also was in the Coast Guard during Vietnam War and sailed in the Island race back in the 80s. The ideal caregiver is someone who is patient, positive, and is able to read cues on how much interest he has in interacting at the moment. He doesn't like people to "hover" yet he also wants someone who keeps busy but is attentive if he needs help or wants to share stories. He does watch a lot of tv and music videos. His more recent memory and word finding is slowly declining and thus he would benefit from someone able to help him with mentally stimulating activities (Scrabble, quizzes). Contact me if you are interested and we can chat and set up a meet and greet with my dad and sister to see if is a good fit.
