About who needs care: My mother has end stage liver disease, alcoholic cirrhosis. She is still drinking and her husband (my step dad) lives with her and is super helpful with her care, but works Friday - Sunday, so we would love to have someone live in one of the upstairs bedrooms over the weekend. She doesn't need a ton of attention and loves to watch her crime/thriller/mystery shows (White Collar, NCIS, Burn Notice) and the occasional Hallmark. She loves interior decorating and shopping. She has been independent but has more frequently been having episodes of weakness where she needs assistance with walking to the bathroom, bathing, and meals. Her ideal day over the weekend would be pretty chill: hanging out at home, watching her favorite shows, birdwatching through the windows, probably two meals a day and a shower once over the whole weekend. She mostly just needs a person to be available if there is a problem or she needs help. The ideal person would mostly just hang out elsewhere in the house and be available when mom called. It does not have to be an overnight because my stepdad gets back from work around 11 p.m. About the care needs: No particular special skills or hobbies. It would be very helpful if they were strong and experienced with transfer to chairs, assist to bathroom, etc. She would also like someone who would be able to drive her car and take her somewhere if needed. Personality that she jives the best with is typically a friendly, funny person who is direct, honest and kind. Its helpful when they act like they are a team. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
