FAQs for finding infant child care
What is infant child care?
What infant child care involves depends on your family’s unique needs. You can hire an infant child care provider to babysit for a few hours here and there, you can hire a full time infant child care provider to act as a nanny, or you can hire someone to look after your baby during the night and to assist with sleep training while you get some much needed rest. You can even hire part time child care for your infant.
How can I find infant child care for infants near me?
If you need help finding infant child care, you can use Care.com to make your search easier. You can review different infant child care provider profiles to learn more about the services they offer, to see how experienced they are, and to read reviews from families they worked with in the past.
What types of infant child care services are available near me in 2026?
Infant child care services can vary greatly and depend on what responsibilities each individual caregiver feels comfortable taking on. For example, some infant child care providers may feel comfortable handling small household chores like laundry or light cooking. Another caregiver may want to give their undivided attention to the infant they’re caring for. You can interview a few different infant child care providers to learn more about the services they offer.
How can I hire infant child care safely?
We request that all infant child care providers who have profiles on Care.com complete an annual background check called a CareCheck. Any infant child care providers who complete a CareCheck will have a badge on their profile that shows the date the background check was run. We still recommend that you do your own due diligence in order to hire an infant child care provider safely, by interviewing multiple candidates, requesting references, and running your own independent background check.
How much does it cost in 2026 to hire an infant child care provider near me?
Hiring someone on Care.com to provide infant child care costs an average of $22.00 per hour at a national level as of October 2026. Each provider's hourly rate may vary depending on their experience working with infants, any specialized training they have with kids in that age range and the specific job duties you need them to take care of.
