Babysitter, Experience With Infants And Toddlers

Avg response < 9 hrs
Hi! My name is Awa and I am a current Biology Pre-med student at UMSL with a psychology minor. I am currently available for part-time care of children from birth to 12 years of age. I have worked with multiple children at once since I cared for my twin brothers and younger sister while my parents were at work. When the weather is enjoyable, I like to take kids to outings to explore what mother nature has in store for us. I am willing to assist with pick-ups and drop-offs, as well as light-cleaning, meal prep, learning of letters, getting kids ready for bed, and most of all play-time.

We have just had to leave St. Louis and were so sad to leave Awa behind because our son (now 9 months old) really loved her. Awa is watchful and intelligent--I would trust her to make sound choices even in an emergency situation, should one arise, God forbid--as well as playful and affectionate. I appreciated that of all the babysitters we have used, Awa was the one who spent the most time *talking* to our son, even when he was just a little 3-month old bean. She always seemed to really *like* him, which of course warms your heart as a mom. Finally, she is a prompt correspondent and very reliable. I would recommend her even to parents of the youngest children, because of her maturity, her caution, and her gentleness with children.

Newborn Nanny Available In June, 2019

I began caring for children professionally in 2006 working for a family with special needs. In that position, I helped raise two boys, ages 3 and 7. After five years, the family, happily, was able to function without my assistance. In Nov. 2013, I began working with a newborn and over a period of three wonderful years, prepared her for preschool. We enjoyed everything from academic activities, nature walks and museum visits to potty training. She started school in August, 2016 and transitioned well to her new educational adventure. Next, I worked with three families on a part-time basis, all of whom had toddlers that I prepared for preschool. During our time together, we worked on age appropriate skills utilizing educational toys, cooking lessons, flash cards and, of course, books. I offer a balance of nature, the arts, and academics as part of my curriculum. Currently, I am looking for a part or full-time position with an infant beginning in June, 2019.

We are thankful to have found someone who is a caring and dependable caregiver to our daughter. Michaelene not only excels in providing the childcare basics, but also in engaging our daughter, even at 3 months, with age-appropriate games, songs, books, and long walks. As first-time parents, we appreciate that she regularly communicates and checks in with us, is sensitive towards our needs, and does what she can to help us in our home.

Part-Time /Full-Time Nanny

Avg response < 24 hrs
I have a big heart for children! I especially like one on one care for newborns and infants. Many years of my life have been devoted to the care of children. As a young teen I got my first job(s) working as a baby sitter in the neighborhood in which I lived. I was a camp counselor for grade school-aged children with the YMCA the summer of 1977. I studied in school for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education, K-12. I have raised 2 children of my own as a stay-at-home mom in 1979 with the first child and 1989 with the second child. While my children were in grade school and up I volunteered in the nurse's office several days a week. I volunteered my time with the YRead program from 2007 - 2009 tutoring students after school. I received my certification with the state of MO for STARS as a foster parent in 2009. Subsequently in that same year my adolescent niece from Japan, lived with me for 1/2 year. I worked in the nursery at church for 1 1/2 years beginning 2011. In 2012 I was a part-time nanny for a newborn for two years and her baby brother arrived toward the end of the last year in service with this family. Also did baby-siting for another family of 2 (3 year old and newborn) on an as needed/part time basis. I am a nanny for my own grandchild since 2013 on a full and subsequent part-time basis. Children are very important to me - they need love and I am here to give it.
