Our oldest child is female, age 9, and diagnosed with Asperger's last year (she is high-functioning and attends a school but occasionally struggles with over-stimulation, unexpected changes, and sibling rivalry). The younger is male, age 7, and neurotypical. Both children are intelligent, fun, athletic, but also high-energy. We believe the best fit will be someone who also has abundant energy and a love of activities including crafts, games, sports, etc. In addition to regular duties like supervising, helping with homework, driving to appointments, feeding them (sometimes making simple meals), cleaning up, the role also requires supporting the older child when she becomes agitated, helping her find ways to appropriately express herself and calm down, and encouraging her social skills.
