Fun, Experienced Teacher Dedicated To You Or Your Student's Success

Hi! Let me help your student succeed! I love kids, and believe it or not, I can make learning fun for your student. My name is Deborah, and I have 15+ years as a high school teacher in the classroom, and years of experience as a K-12 Educational Consultant for an international educational publishing company. I have a great sense of humor, and have a real " knack" for explaining ideas and concepts so that kids can really "get it." I live in the Cotswold area and have reliable transportation, as well as a NC teaching certification (6-12) in English Language Arts from NC State. I have 10+ years teaching high school English and Middle School Literacy as well as ESL. I am an experienced private tutor specializing in numerous subject areas including: English, Science, Math, History, Test Prep (ACT/SAT) and Foreign Language (I have a minor in Spanish). I am also very familiar with Common Core Standards and the ACT/SAT tests and test prep.. I am different from other tutors in that I tailor my tutoring style to fit your student's weaknesses and strengths in CREATIVE and ENGAGING ways to optimize their self esteem and understanding in ways that make sense to them! I am very personable and understand that each student is different. I understand that liking me and trusting me are fundamental for your student's success. In fact, your student may even look forward to our sessions! I have taught literacy, ESL, American literature, World Literature, Debate, Creative Writing, and more. I am also bilingual in Spanish and have extensive international travel experience. Some of my favorite things to show my students are how to get organized, stay organized, and be prepared. It's rewarding to see students take pride in their own success. I can help your 1st grader learn to read, or your 12th grader learn how to write a research paper!
